Something about Delhi...

Ok, to start with I was in Delhi for about 2 months on a deputation and I should say it was effin fantastic. What’s about Delhi...hell, everything! Initially I hated that place, because, it’s extremely hot, humid and the traffic is 10 times worst than that of Bangalore!

But you see, that’s what makes Delhi unique. You’re put in a place which has virtually everything; if you’re asking for entertainment, you’ve got bars, clubs, shopping centers (humongous!), parks, girls, more girls and so on and so forth all in just a stone throw away from anywhere you stay in south or central Delhi, but you have to relish all the fun part with the outrageously bad weather and traffic which makes it a little sweet and sour all mixed up, probably for good.

If you would want me to rate Delhi in terms of livability - from a young citizens perspective, I would rate it 8/10 for Indian standards. Ain’t that good enough?

I hate it when people visit Delhi just as a transit to go to Agra or probably plan to visit popular places in Delhi which are nicely portrayed in those travel website/agents catalogues, because frankly, those places sucks!. It sucks big time! Number one reason being, the beauty of these must watch monuments/towers/forts or the location is brought down to dust by the horrifying glimpse of the huge crowd, several hundred beggars, street peddlers, photographers (most of the them are cons!) and the most crude of them all are those fake tourist guides!

Seriously, if you’re travelling to Delhi and you’re fed up of visiting the so called “MUST WATCH PLACES”, then I would recommend you to stop going by websites, parents, relatives or even travel agent’s suggestions and make a checklist of your own containing offbeat places which most people wouldn’t even had thought of visiting.

Example: Dear park…what? Yeah! Seriously, Dear Park is awesome. Or take a look at those huge DLF malls in Saketh(Select city mall); you would be astonished by the fact that Delhi has stolen a major chunk of India’s good looking girls without anyone knowing it or sadly it could be because Delhi is sharing its border with Punjab! Why is it sad? Because Punjabi kudi’s have unmatchable eternal beauty ingrained into them (Sothies like me might find this statement a little derogatory, but come-on facts are facts I say!) by their progenitors which probably might have spread across Delhi too. Another place which is very interesting is of course “Delhi Heart”; a very interesting place with loads of cottage industry products on sale with eatery stalls serving food of many prominent Indian cuisines.

List of offbeat places in Delhi is endless. One thing which might stop you from going to all the places you planned to could be because have ended up broke. Delhi as it turns out is freakishly expensive! IT IS GOD DAMN EXPENSIVE! Accommodation in Delhi in private lodges could drill a huge hole in your pocket (I prefer youth hostel, it’s the best!) and I recommend you to stay away from private lodges if you’re on a tight budget.

I really want to type more about Delhi, but damn that twitter! After micro blogging pitched into mainstream, it looks corny to type a huge post of this size. So reader, please pardon me if I have left your thoughts hanging somewhere in the middle of something about Delhi…
